A side-scrolling platformer where Mario runs and jumps across the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser. Its level design and power-up system, including the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, set a template that platformers followed for decades. Released as a pack-in title, it helped establish the NES in North America.
