The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

1993 · Nintendo R&D1 · Published by Nintendo

Link washes ashore on Koholint Island and must gather musical instruments to wake the Wind Fish and find a way home, in the first Zelda game set outside Hyrule. It carries the top-down dungeon-and-overworld structure of its console predecessors onto a handheld cartridge. The story's dreamlike, self-contained setting sets it apart from other entries in the series.
